Stopping a service cancels any network connections the
service is using. Also, some services are dependent on others.
Stopping one service can stop others.
Services cannot be stopped from a command prompt within Windows.
Syntax
NET HELP STOP

NET STOP
service
To stop the workgroup redirector, type:
NET STOP
(This breaks all your connections to shared resources and
removes the NET commands from your computer's memory).

You must have administrative rights to stop the Server service.
The Eventlog service cannot be stopped.
